River to the Sky Association
Globally, plant transpiration moves more water from the soil to the atmosphere than all the world’s rivers combined move to the oceans. The flow of water through plants has huge importance for the functioning of our biosphere, ecosystems, hydrology, meteorology, primary productivity, agriculture, horticulture, soil erosion, and drinking water supplies. The purpose of the River to the Sky Association is to encourage development and dissemination of knowledge about the roles of plants in the global water cycle through publications and events such as the 10th International Workshop on Sap Flow in Fullerton, California, in 2017.
Membership in the Association is open to scientists who share the stated purpose of the Association and who have educational, research, or practical experience in plant water relations research or in an allied scientific field. The River to the Sky Association is a non-profit (status pending) organization devoted exclusively to educational or scientific purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code.
